About

Rondeau & Co. is an online journal dedicated to discovering and preserving the nuanced history of watches.
I’m Ron (a.k.a. Rondeau), a watch collector, researcher, writer, and enthusiast living in rural New England.
My grandfather gave me this Tudor Prince Oysterdate ref. 90500 around 2004. I wore it on and off through my schooling years but it wasn’t until 2013 or so that I became interested in other watches. I realized my Tudor wasn’t keeping great time and needed to be serviced. I started researching reputable watchmakers and accidentally opened the door to an entire universe of watches, collectors, and knowledge that I had no idea existed.
Since then, I’ve immersed myself into horology – buying, selling, trading, collecting, reading, conversing, etc. I’ve become most passionate about 1930s & 1940s watchmaking, primarily Longines, but also Zenith, Bulova, Patek Philippe and many others. I’m also very interested in Chelsea Clocks, case making, dial design, and enamel work. In 2018, I co-founded TheSubdial.com to write and share stories about watches. I later learned that Subdial.co already existed and has been killing it. (Seriously, check them out.)
So at the end of 2021 I set out to create something more distinct and personal – and Rondeau & Co. was born. It’s my journal dedicated diving deeper into and looking closer at the horological universe. I want to tell stories that are interesting and meaningful. I want to share research and knowledge that is useful and objective. And above all, I want to continue to learn.
