Sad to see this one go but happy it will have a good home with a new friend and collector in Italy. This unusual caliber 11.62N will also be closer to where it was originally invoiced in 1936 - Czech Republic via Kohn, Longines' agent at the time.

A watch that’s done much more than tell the time.

This 30mm Longines ref. 3777 “tre tacche” came to me with some anecdotal military provenance. I was skeptical but once I had the watch in hand, I was surprised. The case is riddled with bits and pieces of either shrapnel or metalworking debris. The crown is an obvious replacement and upon closer examination appears to be handmade based on the unique knurling marks. I imagine making a crown by hand would have been a matter of necessity rather than choice. Longines’ archives date the watch to May 21, 1940, originally invoiced to the US.
